In houses where the oven is constantly used, cleaning its internal surface takes a lot of time. Abundant pollution during heating gives off an unpleasant odor that can ruin the taste and aroma of a baked dish. Manufacturers of household appliances do not bypass this problem, offering as a solution the two most common options for self-cleaning the oven. Both of them have a common principle of work, but the distinctive features make the choice difficult. The question of which oven to install in the kitchen should be decided by the hostess herself, who knows the mechanism of operation of different cleaning systems.

Pyrolytic self-cleaning in the ovens appeared earlier, and therefore this technology has been brought almost to perfection. The principle of operation of such cleaning is simple - at high temperature, fat and dirt simply burn out, turning into fine soot. At the same time, the non-stick coating of the walls of the oven remains clean, discarding the accumulated dirt. The method is exceptionally good, but burning organic dirt occurs at temperatures close to 500 degrees, and therefore the oven itself must be made of a durable and heat-resistant material and have excellent thermal insulation, the surrounding objects must be protected from fire, and the inner coating from destruction. This explains the high cost of such ovens, because only the best materials are involved in their production, and the constant improvement of safety and efficiency requires the work of a powerful scientific complex. It is characteristic that when the coating is damaged, the oven cannot be repaired.

Advocates of the planet’s resources claim that in the production of pyrolytic panels too much valuable and precious metals are wasted, therefore, it is recommended not to use ovens with such a cleaning system.

Another type of purification is catalytic. He appeared not so long ago, but has already earned popularity among the masses. If there is a separate regime for pyrolytic cleaning, then the catalytic one occurs every time food is cooked in the oven. The surface of the inner panels is not perfectly smooth, it has pores. This allows the contamination to come into contact with oxygen when heated, but not stick to the surface, gradually decomposing into soot and water vapor. With this cleaning, small spots and splashes of fat are visible on the walls of the oven, but they do not accumulate and completely crumble over the next 2-3 preparations, regardless of the degree of contamination.

The catalytic coating does not tolerate high heat, so the bottom of the oven, covered with ordinary enamel, needs to be cleaned after each cooking.

So what is the best cleaning method for the oven? You can immediately say that the pyrolytic method is for lazy people who do not want to get involved in cleaning the oven at all and donate for this a certain amount of money and increased energy consumption. Pyrolytic cleaning has two drawbacks - the high price and low safety of the method, because the glass and metal parts of the oven become very hot during cleaning. The catalytic oven also does not require special efforts to maintain cleanliness, except that periodic cleaning of the bottom wall. The disadvantage of this method is that the oven is not particularly presentable during operation and the need to change self-cleaning panels once every 3-4 years.
