An important parameter for any TV is its lifespan, during which it will broadcast high-quality sound and image. Choosing a TV, they look at this value almost in the first place.

TV life

This parameter depends on the conditions in which the TV is used, and on the technology for displaying and forming an image on the screen. Liquid crystal, plasma and LED TVs serve in the range from 50 to 100 thousand hours. The declared term is much longer for models that have LEDs in the backlight, compared to standard lamps.

Often, manufacturers themselves understand by the service life not quite what the consumer has in mind. The indicated number of hours may elapse, and the TV will continue to show, since the actual life depends on another. Service life is brightness and image quality in the first place. And, calling the hours of service life, they only mean that then the brightness of the picture will be half as much. The TV will still work, but its image will not be as bright as immediately after purchase. To modern models, the stock of brightness is given significantly more than to televisions of the end of the last century. Therefore, most often the warranty period passes, and if no breakdowns of another kind happen, the TV continues to broadcast.

The fact that the image on the TV over time becomes less bright is natural. The backlight lamps of LCD TVs have a threshold of natural wear and tear, and the quality of phosphors decreases in plasma TVs.

Most modern manufacturers put a service life for LCD TVs about 100 thousand hours. This is due to the fact that currently LEDs are used that are resistant to fading. Those models in which fluorescent lamps are used will not last such a long time without loss of quality. For them, the real period of normal operation will be from 40 to 60 hours, in some cases of especially careful handling - a little more.
