Burning candles create a magical atmosphere, set up for romance. Candle flames can help relax. And sometimes I really want the candles, especially beautiful or very fragrant, to last longer. How can this be achieved?
First of all, one should note the following moment: the duration of the candle burning depends on the material from which it is created. The most durable in this regard are gel candles. Products made from natural wax (beeswax) also burn long enough. But cheap paraffin analogues can burn out in a matter of moments. However, there are a number of simple ways that can help extend the life of candles.
Burn longer burn brighter
So that the candle does not smoke, its flame is even and calm, so that it burns longer, be sure to trim the wick before use. The shorter the wick, the longer the candle will last. Trimming the wick is also recommended during the use of candles. You can do this without extinguishing the fire, using sharp thin scissors to cut.
Oddly enough, but "frozen" candles burn much longer than those that have stood in a warm room for a long time and have not been used. Before lighting a candle, it must be wrapped in foil and sent to the refrigerator for an hour and a half. Do not leave candles in the freezer! Otherwise, they can either crack, or even burst.
It is important to monitor how the flame of a lit candle behaves. If it is very strong, constantly fluctuating, then this creates the conditions for uneven melting of the wax / paraffin / gel. Because of this, a candle can burn out faster. Therefore, it is not recommended to place burning candles near ajar windows, near air conditioners or fans, leave them in a draft.
