If your favorite pan starts to leak, try to solder it. Using this method, you can increase the lifespan of this necessary utensil. It is necessary to solder according to all the rules, since the operating conditions of the pan (high temperature and water) can lead to the formation of a new hole.

If the hole is small, take a piece of aluminum wire or tin solder for soldering. For a large hole, find a piece of a copper plate and cut a patch of a little larger than a hole.

Before you start to solder the pan, clean the bottom surface with a file, a file or sandpaper to the metal itself so that there are no deposits, polish the copper plate to a shine. Degrease the surfaces with gasoline or another solvent, then grease with a flux using a brush (a flux is needed to completely cleanse grease and remove oxide films from metal). Instead of flux, "soldering liquid" or "soldering acid" can be used.

Take a soldering iron, heat it and dip rosin or ammonia powder into powder (to remove metal oxides). If a light haze appears, the soldering iron is ready for use. Touch the tool to the solder and hold it there until it is covered with a completely shiny film. Then grab some solder with a sting and transfer it to the soldering place. Flatten around the bottom of the pan around the hole (tin the junction).

Take the solder with a soldering iron tip and transfer what is needed for firm attachment to the soldering point. Small holes can be completely filled with solder. To fix the plate, apply solder around the hole, flatten and patch on top. In order for the plate to grip and fix well, in addition, use a soldering iron to warm the entire surface of the plate.

After the solder has cooled, wipe the area with a damp cloth and clean it with a file or sandpaper.

If you need to solder an aluminum pan, keep in mind that this is somewhat more difficult, since aluminum is difficult to solder. So that an oxide film does not have time to form on the surface, immediately after cleansing the junction, immediately fill it with pre-melted rosin. Solder with a very powerful soldering iron (at least 100 W). Use solder made from 80% or 95% tin, 20% and 5% bismuth, respectively. Choose a flux from stearin or paraffin. If all these conditions are met, you can easily solder the aluminum pan.
