The hardware is the most vulnerable part of the plastic windows, and its actual life is slightly lower than that declared by the manufacturer. To quickly select the appropriate analogue for a broken handle, it must be removed, measure the thickness of the pin, the dimensions of the fastening and the distance between the fixing screws. If you plan to purchase accessories in the interior of plastic windows, it is better to take a sample with you. If it was decided to order interchangeable handles via the Internet, the choice must be made with particular care, paying attention to the coincidence of the overall and mounting dimensions. Although hardware for plastic windows is standard in most cases, extra reinsurance will not be unnecessary.

On plastic and wooden windows, the device of handles is almost the same. All of them have a fixing bar, which is fixed on the window frame with screws or screws. In plastic windows, fastening is done to the metal case of the closing mechanism located inside the plastic profile, while the handles of wooden windows are attached directly to the body of the window frame. The handle itself can be removable: in this case, the handle has a fixing screw, which should be unscrewed. The screws with which the handle is attached to the frame are often closed with a decorative plug.

To remove the handle, it is necessary to remove the rotary part, which presses the decorative plug. If removal is not provided, the plug should be pry off with a thin screwdriver and rotated 90 degrees along the axis. After access to the fixing screws is open, they need to be unscrewed and the old part removed.

If the metal pin is not damaged and its shape is not broken, this part can not be changed. The new handle is installed in the reverse order of removal, while controlling the position of the lever of the rotary part. In the open position of the lock it should be directed downwards, if the window is closed, the lever should be horizontal.

Handles in some window models can have springs, and therefore they should only be installed in the open or closed position of the window.
