Replacing the cuff of the hatch in the washing machine is almost inevitable, especially if the life of the device is more than five years. The condition of the cuff must be monitored from time to time: this will help to avoid leaks and related consequences. The very procedure for replacing the seal is quite simple and takes no more than an hour.

Before starting work, you must turn off the power to the machine. The rubber cuff is attached to the washing machine body by means of a spring ring recessed into the groove of the seal. You can dismantle the ring by prying it with a flat screwdriver and pulling it slightly. After the ring is removed, the cuff must be removed from the seat, bending its outer edge inward.

To replace the rubber seal, you will need to remove the front wall of the washing machine housing. In most cases, it is attached with several screws located in its lower part. To gain access to the attachment point, it is necessary to remove the decorative plastic panel covering the drain pump plug. After the screws are unscrewed, the front wall of the housing must be lifted up and pulled towards itself. Sensor wires are suitable for the door lock and must be disconnected. If there is no quick disconnect on the wire, you will have to remove the lock by unscrewing the two fixing screws on the front of the machine.

The rubber cuff is fixed on the neck of the washing tub also by means of a retaining ring, which can be removed in a manner known per se. In some models of machines, a nozzle is attached to the cuff for washing the inner cavity with water, which will need to be disconnected by carefully removing the rubber neck of the cuff from the plastic fitting. When the seal is released from all locks, it can be easily removed from the neck by pulling it towards you. After removal, thoroughly wipe the edges of the tank, removing mold, deposits of salts and the remnants of washing powder.

On the inner surface of the cuff there are holes for draining water. They must be positioned strictly down when installing a new seal. First, put the cuff on the neck of the washing tub and secure it with a spring ring. If the machine has a cuff rinsing function, a nozzle should be attached. Next, the front wall of the case is installed in place together with the door, after having previously screwed the lock in place or by connecting the wires going to the door closure sensor. Repair work is completed by attaching the cuff to the protruding edge of the outer wall using a spring ring.

On some washing machine models, you may need to remove the top cover and dashboard to gain access to the front wall mounts.
Useful advice
The easiest way to install the snap ring is from bottom to top, gradually pulling and laying it in the groove of the cuff.
