When a faucet drips in the kitchen or in the bathroom, it infuriates even a very seasoned person. In addition, this does not have the best effect on the state of the wallet after paying water bills. And the problem is most often hidden in a simple rubber gasket, which is easy to replace.

Turn off the water before starting work. Remove the plastic handle from the mixer - for this you will need to remove the plug from the plastic and unscrew the fixing screw. After that, you will be able to access the valve crown threads. The valve guide often has a square cross section, but there are also guides with notches. They have a not very pleasant property - they can “stick” to the thread area, and removing the plastic part can be somewhat difficult. You can use force to remove it, but you should not be too zealous.

Unscrew the valve crown using an adjustable wrench. You can use pliers for this, but with their help the crown can only be unscrewed with great effort, and there are still a lot of chipping marks. As a result, the structure should be detached, at the end of which a rubber or plastic gasket is installed. It is attached using a nut and washer, and another option is possible - a pin with a thickening at the end. The old gasket must be removed.

Establish a new lining into place removed. To do this, you need to purchase it in a store or make it yourself. You can use a piece of a rubber chamber, the sole of an old boot, or other wear-resistant rubber material, from which, using a knife or scissors, it is necessary to cut a part of the desired diameter. Do not forget to make a hole in the center and process the nicks, if you did not succeed in doing everything carefully. The gasket must be made as smooth as possible.

Install the gasket on the crown and fix it with the fastener provided in this design. Replace the crown and tighten it as it should. Now reinstall the handle. Reconnect water and check mixer operation.
Useful advice
If you want to make a gasket yourself, you can use the old one to determine its shape. Measure it or simply attach it to the material and circle with a suitable pencil. If the old gaskets are in poor condition and you cannot use them to remove the mold, you can make new ones by measuring the inside diameter of the nut.
