Wine stains are an unpleasant surprise that housewives often encounter after festive events. Drops of red and white wine that have fallen on clothing or a tablecloth can ruin the product forever. To avoid this, work on the spot as soon as possible and use the following recommendations.

Sprinkle a fresh stain of red wine with fine dry salt. It absorbs moisture well and will not allow the stain to blur. If there is no salt at hand, attach a paper towel to the wine stain. After that, wash the stained thing in clean cold water, adding a little liquid ammonia to it first.

Fresh wine stains left on a cotton or linen tablecloth can be removed using hot water. To do this, pull the “affected” part of the product onto a wide bowl or basin and fill it with hot water until the spots disappear completely. Water should be as hot as possible, but not boiling. This method applies only to things made from natural, stain-resistant materials.

A more thorough approach requires old wine stains. To remove such contamination, mix a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice with 1 tbsp. a spoonful of vodka. Apply the mixture on a cloth, then rinse it in a warm soapy solution.

Another, no less effective means of combating old and extensive wine stains is hot milk. Heat the milk and soak the contaminated item in it. After 30 to 40 minutes, rinse the product thoroughly in warm water.

To remove a stubborn wine stain from a delicate fabric, it is necessary to prepare the following remedy. Mix in equal proportions one raw egg yolk and glycerin. Apply the mixture to the stain and leave for 2 to 3 hours. Then wash the cloth in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Stains from white wine and liquors can be removed by mixing 1 glass of water, a teaspoon of soap shavings and half a teaspoon of soda. Moisten the contaminated area with this solution and leave the product overnight. Then rinse the product with warm water, and rinse the item well. This method should not be used for fabrics that can shed.
