Drops of molten wax or paraffin, once on clothing, leave spots that look oily in appearance. At first glance, they seem stubborn and hard to get out, but this is not so, candle spots can be eliminated without a trace.

You will need

Iron, thin cotton, paper towels or toilet paper, gasoline, turpentine, alcohol or acetone, cotton swabs or sticks, washing powder.

Instruction manual

1

Wait 10-15 minutes for paraffin or wax to harden and solidify. Scrape off the translucent plaque from the fabric by scraping it with a fingernail, the back of a knife, a coin edge, or other similar object. Wax easily crumbles and moves away from the fabric. After scraping off the solid mass, carefully remember the place of contamination, and then brush off the crumbled particles with a brush. An oily stain will remain in place of the wax patch.

2

Place a paper towel folded several times or another product made of white, well-absorbing paper (a disposable towel, toilet paper, etc.) under the contaminated area. Cover the stain with a thin cotton cloth and iron the resulting sandwich 3-4 times with a warm iron. Wax and paraffin melt very easily, and the paper backing absorbs contamination.

3

Change the cloth to a clean one and iron the fabric again. If the cloth remained clean - go to the next step, if wax marks are visible on the paper - change the backing again and repeat the operation.

4

A slightly noticeable trace from the spot will remain on the fabric: it does not require additional processing and will easily come off when washing with conventional detergents.

5

If the fabric cannot be ironed, the wax stain can be removed using solvents such as turpentine, gasoline, ethyl alcohol or acetone. Stain removers can also be used, on the packaging of which it is indicated that they are designed to remove greasy stains.

6

After cleaning the fabric from the wax film, apply the solvent with a cotton swab or cotton swab. To prevent the stain from spreading, apply solvent from the edges of the stain to the center, and place a paper towel or cotton cloth under the stain. Wait 10-15 minutes, then wash the treated area. If necessary, repeat the operation again.
