Often after washing the sweater, a problem appears - it decreases in size. And it would be nice to make it a little larger, at least half the size, and stretch the sleeves a little. This is quite possible to achieve even with a new sweater, if it turned out to be a bit out of size.

You will need

  • - warm water (30 degrees);

  • - hair conditioner;

  • - vinegar;

  • - a large basin.

Instruction manual

1

Heat the water to 30 degrees, but not higher, and soak a sweater in it for 5-10 minutes. Gently squeeze out excess water so that it does not drain, but the thing must remain wet. Do not twist the sweater, otherwise it also deforms.

2

Put the sweater in a clean bathtub or large empty basin. Apply hair conditioner to its entire surface and leave for several minutes - then the fibers of the sweater will become more malleable.

3

Gently begin to stretch each section of the sweater, which has decreased in size. If the fibers do not stretch, leave the sweater with air conditioning for a while, then repeat the procedure. After stretching the product to the desired size, rinse the sweater in a large amount of warm water (30 degrees). After that, soak it for 10 minutes in a solution of water with vinegar (approximately 50 grams of vinegar per 5 liters of water). Squeeze a little water and again stretch the sweater to the desired size.

4

On a flat surface, lay a terry towel or other cloth that absorbs moisture easily. Gently place the sweater on a towel and leave to dry in this position. When almost all the moisture has evaporated, gently stretch it and wait for it to dry completely.

5

You can also put a wet sweater on yourself and walk in it until it dries completely. It will take a lot of time, but in the end the thing takes on the desired shape and size.

6

If you don’t feel like walking in wet clothes, try steaming your item with an iron. Lay it on an ironing board, moisten with water those places that need to be stretched, and steam until completely dry through cheesecloth, slightly stretching the sweater.

Useful advice

If the sweater is made of natural wool, in no case do not dip it in hot water. It is also undesirable to change the temperature of the water during washing, since this is what contributes to the reduction and stalling of the fibers. And the sweater is reduced in size.
