Benefits of Stretch Ceiling

The stretch ceiling is a fabric made of special fabric or PVC film. It is fixed to the walls of the room with the help of a special fastener called a baguette, and forms a perfectly flat surface.

The consumer is available a large number of colors and textures of paintings. The ceiling can be either classic matte or glossy.

Ceilings of this type are quite durable and do not require special care - it is enough to wipe them from dust from time to time. They do not need painting. After installation, they are immediately ready for use.

Stretch ceilings are installed a few centimeters from the floor slab. In this technological gap, it is possible to lay communications - electrical wiring, ventilation ducts.

Stretch ceiling material

Stretch ceilings come in two main varieties - fabric and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Fabric made of special synthetic fabric. It is impregnated with a polyurethane compound. PVC ceilings are a high-strength plastic film.

PVC ceilings are characterized by high water resistance and elasticity. They are not afraid even of a great flood. The water accumulated in the canvas is simply drained, and the ceiling is dried, after which there is no trace left on it.

Fabric ceilings are much more sensitive to moisture. If a lot of water gets on the canvas, it can irreversibly stretch under its weight. It will not be possible to avoid the appearance of spots from dirty water seeping through the ceilings. After a severe flood, such a ceiling will most likely have to be replaced.

Installation of PVC ceilings requires mandatory heating, which is carried out using a gas heat gun. This is necessary for shrinking the canvas and smoothing the folds. Installation of fabric ceilings will not require special tools and access for working with gas equipment.

The width of the fabric ceiling cloth does not exceed five meters. If your room is wider, or has a complex shape, the fabric ceiling is not suitable for you, because the canvas does not stitch. On the other hand, if the rooms of your apartment are wide enough, you will get a seamless ceiling.

PVC ceilings are made from several paintings that are welded together. This allows you to make a canvas of the required width, including for large areas. In this case, seams are formed, but they are almost invisible from the side.

PVC ceilings must not be installed in unheated rooms. The film begins to lose its properties and collapse if the air temperature drops below + 5 ° C. If you want to install a stretch ceiling in a country house or in a country house without heating, it is better to opt for a fabric stretch ceiling.

Stretch Ceilings Manufacturers

Ceilings made in China are very popular. The reason lies on the surface - Chinese-made materials are cheap. But their quality is unstable and can vary from party to party.

Those customers who need high quality often choose Italian, Belgian or French ceilings. Such materials are quite expensive. Please note that unscrupulous firms can sell ceilings from China, passing them off as made in Europe.

There is also a golden mean on the market - ceilings of Russian production. They are cheaper than European counterparts, while providing decent quality. Their main disadvantage is a smaller choice of colors and textures. But if you want to install a white matte ceiling, a Russian film will be the best choice.
