The life of any products made of them depends on how correctly the boards were chosen and what their quality is. There are several options for choosing quality boards.
First of all, when choosing, the design of the boards themselves is evaluated. They are grooved and ordinary. The first have lock joints at the ends. When laid, these boards form a tight joint that prevents the appearance of cracks on the floor. At the usual technical board, the ends are even, and when laying the floor, it is placed butt. The cost of the tongue and groove is higher, but not for all works, the presence of such a connection at the ends is necessary.
Secondly, the species of tree is taken into account. Oak wood is not only practical, but also very beautiful. Oak planking is an exception - it is almost never grooved, as its strength meets all the requirements, even when laying end-to-end. The cost of such boards is high, but it justifies itself.
Expensive wood and Siberian larch. Boards made of it are characterized by high strength, hardness and high resin content, thanks to which they do not rot and practically do not undergo abrasion. This wood is perfect for rooms with high humidity, or buildings that have been idle for a long time without a host.
The alder and aspen do not differ in strength and quality, but it is believed that the enzymes secreted by these boards are useful for human health and especially have a good effect on the children's body. In the rooms for the child, the load on any structures is not too great, which really allows you to equip them with boards of these rocks.
Pine, spruce and fir are the most common types of boards used in virtually any field. This is a budget option, excellent balance between price and quality.
Thirdly, the humidity of the boards is checked. Any wood, first of all, must be well dried. Otherwise, within a few days after the purchase, the boards may twist with a screw and crack. Before you start work, you need to let the material acclimatize, that is, respond accordingly to the constant climate of the room or area. To do this, it is enough to fold the boards at the place of use and leave for 3-4 days.
As a rule, high-quality wood from a good producer at the place of sale is accompanied by a whole package of necessary documents. The absence of the latter should be alarming. Although the availability of documents, unfortunately, is not a guarantee of quality, since much also depends on the place and time of storage. Before buying, you need to ask the seller to measure humidity and clarify how long the selected boards are in stock. The longer this period, the more likely the storage conditions will be violated.
Wet wood can be recognized by the following signs: the shavings removed by the planer crumple easily in the fingers, and the transverse ones crumble. Initially, a winter forest, cut down in cold weather, when life processes in a tree are slowed down and there is practically no juice, has lower humidity and better quality.
