Plastic windows almost completely replaced wooden ones. In big cities, it’s hard to find a house without plastic windows. This is due to the huge number of their advantages.

Advantages of plastic windows

  1. Durable plastic windows

  2. Much better and longer retain heat indoors

  3. Relatively low cost

  4. Easy to care for

But after 4-5 years of service, plastic windows no longer seem so tight, and many are wondering about their insulation. This is, of course, best done in the summer. In winter, insulating windows is much more difficult. First we need to find the blowdown spots in the window. Most often, problems arise in such places:

  1. Insulation of slopes (window seams)

  2. Replacing rubber seal

  3. Sash Mode Calibration

  4. Buying a film

We warm slopes

In plastic windows, slopes must be made of plastic. The distance between the frame and the wall, which is not filled with anything, is filled with special foam. It will prevent possible airflows. You can also use polystyrene foam, polystyrene or mineral wool. When choosing, you need to pay attention to what material the walls and temperature are made of. From the street you need to remove the old material and clean the surface. Then replace it with a new one. Important! Mineral wool is best used when the thickness of the joint is more than 4 mm.

Change the seal

What it is? It is located between the wings and the frame. It is mainly made of rubber. There are very few owners of plastic windows that care for the seal. But with proper care (lubrication with special agents), it can last 10 years. Replacing the seal is not a problem. Just remove the double-glazed window, glazing bead and change the old seal to a new one.

Sash Mode Calibration

The distance between the sash and the frame can be changed using trunnions (eccentrics). They differ in their shape, but act the same. You can calibrate the pressure of the sash by turning the trunnion with a key. There are oval-shaped eccentrics; for pressing, they need to be positioned so as to turn a large radius towards the room with the sash closed.
