Once motion sensors were used solely to protect objects from possible intruders. Today, these devices are increasingly used in everyday life: they automatically turn on the light in front of the garage, in the room, and in the toilet. You can install the sensor and connect it yourself if you follow simple requirements.
Before choosing a model of a motion sensor, you need to determine its type. The device may be active or passive. In the first case, you will get a very expensive and sensitive device that can respond to the slightest movement in the zone of its operation. The sensor operates in the ultrasonic range. A person does not hear the radiated sound, but cats and dogs will begin to express concern; therefore, when using this type of sensor, the presence of animals should be excluded. More preferred for use in everyday life is the second type of device - passive. This is a type of infrared sensor that responds to human heat.
Preparation for installation, adjustment
Before installing the device, it must be correctly adjusted and the installation location selected. It is worth noting that the usual range is 10-12 m, which is enough for a living room. To make the adjustment, you need to connect the motion sensor to the power. Look at the terminal block; on it, the connection point of the phase conductor is indicated by the letter "L", and the zero - "N". After supplying power to the sensor, first adjust the light level (indicated as "LUX"), at which the device will start to work. The next parameter is a timer ("TIME"), which sets the lighting time (10-420 sec.). The countdown starts from the moment when there is no movement; i.e., if a person moves, then the light will burn. Next, set the response sensitivity (in meters) using the "SENS" knob.
Now you need to determine the most optimal mounting location of the sensor. Install it, for example, on a stepladder, and put the latter in the intended installation location. Move the stairs and experimentally find the best position. You can find out about the operation of the sensor by the often blinking LED (in the calm position, it flashes once a second).
