Nefropelis is a type of fern that can be successfully grown at home. It is considered the most unpretentious among other domesticated ferns. But, like any other plant, it needs special care.
Fern care
Indoor fern prefers ambient light, categorically does not tolerate direct sunlight. Place the plant pot on the east or west windowsill, not on the south. Nephrolepis grows well in light partial shade, so you can put a pet at a few meters from the window. Fern prefers regularly ventilated areas. But make sure that the flower does not stand in the draft.
In summer, you can take the pot out to fresh air, while the leaves should not be exposed to sunlight or raindrops.
In the cold season, nephrolepis needs good lighting. You can use fluorescent lights as additional lighting. Place them half a meter above the plant. The duration of lighting should be at least six hours a day. Indoor fern prefers high humidity, throughout the year it needs to be sprayed with clean, settled water from a spray bottle. To create high humidity, you can place a pot with a plant on a pallet with wet expanded clay or moss.
Nephrolepis responds well to washing in the shower. During the water treatment, cover the pot with plastic wrap so that moisture does not enter the soil.
The optimum temperature for growing ferns in spring and summer is 20-22 Β° C, in winter and autumn - 14-15 Β° C. This plant can easily tolerate lower temperatures, provided that watering is done in small portions and rarely. From the end of autumn and through the month of March, water ferns sparingly, wait until the topsoil dries. Please note that over-drying an earthen coma is not permissible. In summer, watering should be plentiful, but do not overfill the plant. The earth should always be slightly damp.
