The cause of mold on the soil is a fungal infection, and several obvious signs can immediately provoke its occurrence: excessively high humidity in the room, low temperature or clogged drainage holes at the bottom of the flower pot. Because of this, excess moisture accumulates, and it provokes the development of mold on the surface of the earth. But often the owner himself is the culprit of its occurrence, too often watering the plants or choosing the wrong substrate for planting.

This problem most often appears with the arrival of rainy and cloudy days, that is, in the fall. It is during this period that plants absorb less moisture, and the remaining water in the soil practically does not evaporate due to a decrease in room temperature. This creates an excellent environment for the development of mold. As a preventative measure, reduce the frequency of watering and the amount of water used. Loosen the earth to a depth of two centimeters around the plant: thereby you will contribute to the rapid evaporation of moisture.

As far as we know, mold has the ability to spread not only in width but also in depth, it develops foci. If mold spores are found in a flower pot, immediately remove them together with the top layer of the earth (two centimeters deep). Add prepared and calcined soil to the pot, add activated or charcoal to the substrate: it has an antibacterial property and absorbs excess moisture left after watering.

Then dilute two grams of foundationazole in a liter of water, pour the whole soil with the prepared solution. Further, when watering, use water acidified with citric acid or fresh lemon juice to completely eliminate mold spores. If the mold penetrated too deeply, then managed to hit the roots of the flower, in this case, its death is inevitable.
