Proper sorting of things before washing
Things made of 100% cotton differ among themselves not only in density and characteristics of the combination of fibers, but also in the color of the fabric. It is very important to consider that cotton has the property of shrinkage during washing. This, in turn, affects the choice of temperature, detergents, and the duration of exposure to water.
Fabrics can be divided among themselves according to the following features:
by fabric color (color and white / unpainted);
by type of fabric (thin, dense, with complex texture, with fleece and others).
The most optimal mode for natural material is the cleaning of contaminants at a temperature of 130 ° C using a variety of detergents, excluding aggressive substances. For a better wash, it is advisable to use oxygen bleaches. When washing colored items, they often lower the temperature regime in order to maintain the brightness of the cotton for a long time.
How to wash unpainted cotton
White and unpainted fabrics also need to be divided among themselves, since for delicate things a more gentle regimen is required than for dense fabrics.
Basic Rules:
water temperature - 40-95 ° C;
heavily soiled items must first be soaked;
use detergents with bleaches;
observe the full washing regimen;
double rinse;
maximum revolutions during the spin cycle;
if possible - automatic drying (temperature - no more than 60 ° C).
Maximum spin of cotton items reduces drying time. As a rule, they can be ironed right away, since the fabric from the machine gets slightly moist.
How to wash colored things
Colored cotton is quite finicky in care, since non-compliance with the temperature regime and other requirements worsen the quality properties of the fabric and, accordingly, reduce the wear time.
For such things, the following conditions should apply:
temperature - no more than 65 ° C;
pre-soak heavily soiled things;
use detergents specifically for colored items;
observe full mode and double rinse;
spin - 600-800 rpm;
refusal of automatic drying.
To prevent shedding of cotton products, it is advisable to moisten a piece of cloth in a hot soapy solution and wipe with a white cloth. The appearance of a colored trace indicates that the fabric sheds during washing during high heat setting. Such things are recommended to be washed first several times manually. For colored material, bleach products should also not be used.
Features of washing thin cotton
For thin fabrics (regardless of color), it is necessary to choose the minimum washing temperature in order to exclude the fit of products. It is better to wash lacy clothes manually, which allows you to save the appearance and texture. Pre-soak for 5-6 hours in cold water with the addition of salt, and then wash in a warm soapy solution and rinse thoroughly.
For drying, you should not use a drying drum, as it can easily deform the fabric, which will lead to the deterioration of washed items. It is better to gently squeeze the product out of thin cotton and hang it on a rope until it dries completely at room temperature.
