- without side seam.
In the first case, a whole-cut shelf is made, and the back consists of two identical canvases. They are sewn together, and a zipper is sewn up at the top, so that the dress is easily put on and removed.
In the second case, a bodice detail is drawn, consisting of half a shelf and half a back. The clasp can be made in front or behind. Buttons are usually sewn on the front, and zipper is sewn on the back.
An opening of the armhole is drawn between these two half parts of the bodice. The length of this arc should be almost equal to the top of the sleeve. That he sat well, this part of the pattern is made 5-7 cm larger than the floodplain hole. Then, before attaching the sleeve, it will be possible to assemble the thread and pick it up.
The skirt is cut very simply. Measure the desired length and set it aside on a sheet of tracing paper. The width should be 1.5-3 times greater than the circumference of the bodice.
If you want to hide the overweight hips, then stop at a width greater than 1.5 times. If, on the contrary, you need to visually add additional volume to the hips, then draw this line, which is 2-2.5 times the width of the bodice.
When creating a pattern, it is important to proceed from the fabric from which the baby-dress will be sewn. If it is very thin, then you can take the triple width of the bodice as the basis for the skirt. For a dense one and a half width is enough.
