The need to solder two wires can arise in a very different situation, ranging from lengthening the cable of an electrical appliance to the creation of electronic devices. The reliable operation of the appliance and the safety of its use depend on how well the soldering is performed.

1

The connection method largely depends on the type of wires used. There can be three main options: both wires are single-core; both wires are stranded; one is multi-core, the second is single-core.

2

Connection of single-wire wires can be performed in two versions: soldering of two wires; twisting of wires and subsequent soldering. Use the first method where the wires do not experience mechanical stress. Use the second when lengthening the cables of electrical appliances.

3

To solder two single-core wires, strip them from insulation by 1.5-2 centimeters. If the wire is oxidized (darkened), strip it with a knife to a shine. Avoid touching your fingers on the cleaned surfaces - the grease marks left on them will interfere with soldering.

4

Tin, that is, cover with a thin layer of solder, soldered wires. Do this carefully so as not to melt the insulation. Make sure that the wire does not spring - drops of solder falling from it can get into your eyes. Therefore, tin wires on a plank, not on weight.

5

When soldering, use rosin or its solution in alcohol. If there is no rosin, use an aspirin tablet. Having carefully tinned both wires, overlap them on a plate, then take a drop of solder with a soldering iron and solder the connection point. Then let the connection cool without moving the wires. After solidification of the solder, turn over the wires and carefully solder the second side. Fix both wires when soldering.

6

The junction must be insulated. This can be done in two ways: put on one of the wires, even before soldering, a piece of polyvinyl chloride cambric, then, after soldering, move it to the joint or insulate the solder with insulating tape.

7

When connecting stranded wires, remove insulation by 3 cm. Thoroughly strip the wires with a knife, then twist them tightly together. Solder the place of twisting, making sure that the solder covers the connection from all sides.

8

If it is necessary to connect a single-core and stranded wire, first tin the stranded wire by about 4 cm. Then twist and tin the stranded wire by 3 cm. Wrap the single-stranded wire around the stranded wire, then carefully solder the connection point.
