There are the following types of wire connections: twisting, terminal connections, soldering, welding, self-locking terminals, bolted connections. You need to know about the features of each method in order to choose the one that suits you.

Twisting is the most common type of bonding among home masters. But the rules of the installation of electrical installations do not allow their application. Twisting, if made by an experienced craftsman, will last more than one decade. The length of this connection should be at least 40-50 mm, its turns are made dense. Nippers need to cut off the end of the twist. This connection is best suited for single-core aluminum wires. Twist copper wires to solder tin-lead solder.

A terminal or screw connection also has pros and cons. In this way, wires of different metals can be connected. But from time to time, the terminals need to be checked to squeeze the connection. The ends of the stranded wires need to be soldered or special lugs used.

Soldering is considered one of the most reliable compounds, but, of course, if it is produced efficiently. Most often, copper wires are soldered, but there are also solders for aluminum. When using this method, acid-containing fluxes cannot be used. After completing work, flush the soldered area with gasoline or alcohol.

But experts consider welding the most reliable way to connect wires. But you need to weld only metals of the same type. To do this, you will need a step-down transformer and a special carbon electrode. This type of wire connection is also recommended by the PUE.

WAGO connection terminals were liked by electricians for the ease of installation and the lack of need for additional equipment. These terminal blocks are produced for wires of different cross-sections and for different quantities. Mono conductors and flexible conductor also connect perfectly in WAGO devices. The special paste inside will not allow oxidation of the metal. You can connect wires of different metals.

Among electrical system installers, connection insulating clamps are popular. PPE also contains a lubricant that prevents oxidation of the wire connection.

Bolted wires are reasonably reliable and simple. But the junction of aluminum wires must be regularly inspected to tighten the fasteners. Connect aluminum and copper through a steel intermediate washer.
