Heat treatment There are special building hair dryers for removing paint. This tool is similar to a simple hair dryer for drying hair, but in contrast, it can create a hot air stream with a temperature of up to 600 degrees. Under the influence of such a flow, the old paint softens and moves away from the wooden base, and subsequently it is easy to remove with a spatula. Use a special spatula to remove paint - it is thicker, and besides, it can be sharpened. Before you start working as a hairdryer, remove the glass from the window frame. If you did not find a hair dryer, you can fish with an old gas burner or blowtorch. But when using them, make sure that there is no fire.

Mechanical method The old method can be removed mechanically using a drill with two nozzles. One of them should be with hard metal bristles, and the other with soft. Use a hard bristle brush for the initial treatment of the window frame. Then sand the surface with a soft bristle brush. You can get rid of old paint with a knife on hand. Remove the main layer from the window frame, and then go over it with a sandpaper. Please note that mechanical methods will require you a lot of free time and patience.

Chemical removal In any store selling paints and varnishes, a special tool for removing old paint is sold (the so-called wash). Apply a wash on the painted surface with a brush and leave for 10-20 minutes. After the time has passed, remove the “swollen” paint with a spatula. Please note that all chemicals are very corrosive, so only work with the windows open. To avoid unpleasant consequences, carefully read the instructions for use before use.

The more layers of paint on the frame, the more difficult it is for a hair dryer or a wash to handle it.
