In order to repair shoes, it is not necessary to contact the workshop. The so-called minor repairs can be carried out independently, without possessing special skills. For example, you can flash the sole using improvised means.

You will need

  • - kapron thread;

  • - soap or tar;

  • - awl;

  • - thin hook;

  • - scissors.

Instruction manual

1

Prepare the thread. It is best for flashing outsoles suitable nylon thickness of about 5-6 mm. To prevent it from swelling, rub it with soap or tar.

2

If there is no awl, use a sharpened knitting needle. The hook can be any, but thin knitting is best for flashing shoes. It can be replaced by a piece of wire with a bent end.

3

Mark the line of the future seam. It should retreat from the edge of the sole inward by at least 5 mm, otherwise the thread will gradually thin out from friction on the asphalt. For accuracy, you can draw a line with a bar of soap or a tailor's chalk.

4

Insert the awl into the outsole at the place where you are going to make the first stitch. The awl should pierce the sole from the outside inward at an angle of about 45 degrees. The inlet is located on the outer surface of the outsole, the outlet is on the inside.

5

Fold the thread to be sewn in half. Attach the loop formed from the fold to the hole just made by the awl inside the shoe. Pass the hook through the outer hole and loop a loop over it. Pull it out, then pull one of the ends so that the thread straightens.

6

After 5-7 mm, make the second hole in the same way. Also, from the inside out, draw a hook through it and throw a loop formed from the free end of the thread inside the shoe folded in half. Pull the loop outward and drag the free outer end of the capron remaining from the first stitch into it. Tighten the loop.

7

Make the third hole and repeat the steps above. To fasten the seam at the end of the process, sew a couple of reverse stitches. Tie a capron and cut off the excess, leaving a short end.

Useful advice

If the thread breaks when tightening the stitch, tighten the ends on the inside of the shoe and continue to sew it.
