If a thick ice coat has accumulated in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator, then it is time for defrosting. In principle, you can, of course, do without this time-consuming process - after all, by and large the layer of "frost" does not affect the operation of the unit (although it slightly reduces its cooling ability). But if the volume of the freezer has already been halved, and the lid has stopped closing, it's time to start!

Instruction manual

1

First, turn off the refrigerator and open the freezer door wide. And immediately free the refrigerator from the accumulated products in it. The contents of the freezer during defrosting can be placed in special thermally insulating bags (they can often be seen in supermarkets in the frozen food department), or simply wrapped in several layers of polyethylene or newspapers. Put everything frozen and perishable in a basin and put it in the coldest place in the house.

2

Place a basin on the top shelf of the refrigerator in which water will drain. Put rags on the lower shelves (cotton is best, they absorb water very well). Water from the basin will have to be poured periodically, and rags - systematically changed and squeezed.

3

Do not chip the ice crust with a knife or other sharp objects: you may accidentally damage the evaporators of the refrigerator. If you want to speed up the defrosting process (which can take several hours), you can put a pot or bowl of hot water inside the freezer by placing it on a hot stand (direct contact between the ice evaporator and the hot pan should be avoided). Instead of a pan, you can use a rubber heating pad with hot water.

4

After the freezer has completely thawed, you need to wipe it dry and leave it a little "ventilated." At this time, we heed from the refrigerator all the internal shelves and drawers, as I wash and wipe them. The walls and doors of the refrigerator are also washed with a little warm water, in which you can add a little soda - this will help get rid of odors.

5

Now the refrigerator can be plugged in - and return products to their rightful place. After a couple of hours, the refrigerator will finish "pick up cold" and go to work in its normal, "regular" mode.
