The podium in the apartment is not only a decorative original decoration of the interior, but also brings significant practical benefits. The podium is the part of the floor that is raised 25-30 centimeters above the rest of the space in the room.

Instruction manual

1

Types of the podium are divided into technical and decorative. Technical ones hide engineering communications and building structures, the second ones help transform the space and zone the room. However, most often both of these types are combined, since decorativeness cannot in any way interfere with functionality, and vice versa. Any podium can be equipped with drawers or even a bed, which is put forward, if necessary.

2

After laying the plywood on the floor, you can begin to make a podium.

First of all, it is necessary to prepare a drawing of the future design in order to accurately represent what the final result will look like.

Of the materials you need twenty-millimeter plywood, ten-millimeter plywood, a beam of 50x50 and 30x40 millimeters, various fasteners: self-tapping screws, dowel nails, fixing corners (ordinary by 40 millimeters, as well as reinforced by 50 millimeters) and anchors. The quantity will depend on the size of your future design.

3

Next, you need to make markup and draw contours with a pencil.

Check the diagonals with a tape measure to calculate the existing wall curvature. If it is more than 55 millimeters, then it will be necessary to adjust the degree of depth of the podium.

4

For waterproofing, polyethylene is laid on the floor. A cork backing can be placed on top of the polyethylene. After the substrate, 10 mm plywood is laid, which is nailed to the floor with dowel nails. At the joints, technical gaps of 3-4 millimeters must remain.

5

According to the existing drawing, a 50x50 bar is cut - it will serve as the basis of the frame. To get an already complete picture, the lags are laid out on supports. Between the lags and supports, it is necessary to lay a cork substrate. The beam may be a little damp, therefore, if there is no substrate, after drying it will begin to creak.

We mount and on the side of the podium. We fix logs to the side walls with anchors. On top of the lags, 20 mm plywood is laid and fixed, not forgetting the need for technical gaps.
