If running sneakers begin to lose their attractive appearance and daily care in the form of surface cleaning and rubbing does not solve this problem, then it's time to gently wash the shoes.

Wash genuine leather sneakers

If running sneakers are made of genuine leather, nubuck, suede or have leather inserts, washing such shoes is strictly not recommended. The skin does not tolerate excessive waterlogging, swells, loses its shape, and after drying it becomes hard and hardened.

Sports shoes made of expensive leather are manually cleaned of contaminants using warm water with the addition of soap or gel for washing clothes. The only things that can be machine washed are insoles and laces, if there is such a need. After removing stubborn dirt, the shoes are cleaned clean with a damp cloth and left to dry. Dried sneakers smeared with a cream for leather shoes or children's cosmetic cream.

Sneakers made of nubuck or with suede inserts are best not to be exposed to water at all, but cleaned with a brush and special sprays sold in shoe stores. To remove stains and give whiteness to light skin, you can use lemon juice or ammonia strongly diluted with water.

Machine washable sneakers

Sports shoes made from textiles or synthetic and artificial materials can be cleaned using machine wash. Preliminary preparation for washing is reduced to removing the largest contaminants with a damp cloth and cleaning the soles of sand and stuck pebbles. Before washing, it is necessary to remove the insoles and laces and place them together with shoes in a special laundry bag or in an old pillowcase. However, if you don’t have an old pillowcase at hand, you can wash your sneakers with any old rags of fabric or small floor mats - this measure will allow you to dampen the vibration of the washing machine and reduce the runout of the sneakers on the glass door.

If the washing machine is not equipped with a special function for washing shoes, then when choosing a mode, it is best to adhere to delicate washing or cycles with a minimum investment of time. Water temperature should not exceed 30-40 degrees, spin mode and automatic drying should also be turned off. When washing light sneakers, you can add a little bleach to the laundry detergent.

Drying running sneakers is carried out either in the sun or at room temperature without the use of heating appliances or central heating batteries. So that the sneakers do not lose their shape, they put a crumpled newspaper inside, which they change as they get wet. Paper towels are put in white sneakers, as printing ink from newspapers may print on a light surface.
