A new linoleum roll must be kept for some time in a dry and warm room, preferably in an upright position. Before starting work, you need to free the floor from worn cloth and debris. The surface on which the new coating will be laid must be clean and dry.

The canvas needs to be selected taking into account the size of the room so that you do not have to combine too much. If the joints can not be avoided, then it is better to do them under the furniture.

Trim linoleum so that there is a small gap between its edge and the wall, about 0.5-0.7 cm. As you use, linoleum will expand, and this distance will gradually fill. If this moment is neglected, then the floor covering wrinkles, loses its appearance. This is very important for felt-based linoleum.

They fix linoleum at the doors and along the length of adjacent walls. To do this, use special glue or double-sided tape. If the room is large enough, if the floor is underfloor heating, and the furniture is often moved, it is better to fix the canvas over the entire surface. In order to avoid clogging and so that the edges of the linoleum do not diverge, the joints are additionally treated with "cold welding" or laid with double-sided tape.

If water gets under the linoleum, then mold and an unpleasant odor can form under it. Therefore, the canvas must be insulated from moisture. To do this, a strip of wide tape can be glued to the wall and edge of linoleum under the baseboard. In addition, there should be no joints under the sink. In places of high humidity, linoleum is better not to lay at all.

In order for linoleum to serve as long as possible, not warp, crack or swell, you need to properly care for it: to prevent waterlogging and solvents getting on it, you need to avoid scratching cleaners. You can not wash linoleum with too hot water, as it washes the picture. Once every 2 months, you can grease linoleum with linseed oil or linseed oil, and then wipe it well. And for ordinary care, just water, a liquid detergent and a soft cloth are enough.
