One of the popular options for winter clothing is a sheepskin coat. Its appearance and heat-saving properties are highly appreciated. However, in order for the sheepskin coat to serve as long as possible, it must be looked after and cleaned of dirt in a timely manner.
Over time, the sheepskin coat loses its attractive appearance, various pollution, spots appear. At the same time, it is not necessary to give it to dry cleaning, because it is quite possible to clean a sheepskin coat at home. There are many inexpensive, but at the same time effective ways. All these methods can be divided into wet and dry.
Wet ways
It is necessary to dilute ammonia with water in a ratio of 1 to 2 and add a little soapy foam. The resulting wipe the surface of the sheepskin coat 5-6 times. Then wipe the remaining solution with a damp cotton cloth and hang the sheepskin coat to dry. After it dries, you can slightly mash the treated area with your hands to give softness.
Add a little borax (10 - 15 ml) to the mixture of water and ammonia. The manipulations are similar, as in the first method, only wiping is enough two or three times.
An effective tool is a mixture of soda and milk or ammonia (at the rate of 1 teaspoon of soda per solution).
How to clean a sheepskin coat if you want to remove a stain from fat or chocolate? It is only necessary to add oxalic acid (about 20-30 g) to an aqueous solution of ammonia.
Dry methods
The easiest way to clean a sheepskin coat without using water is to rub semolina or starch into the stain. Rub in carefully so as not to damage the surface of the skin. As an option, you can simply thickly pour semolina or starch on the stain, then cover with a couple of dry napkins and put a heavy load. As a result, the fat is absorbed, it remains just to brush off the powder from the product with a brush.
If the surface of the sheepskin coat has lost its velvety appearance, you can use coarse eraser or thin sandpaper (No. 0).
The collar, the edges of the sleeves and pockets with frequent wear of sheepskin coats are salted and begin to shine. An ordinary tooth powder will help to cope with this, which must be rubbed into greasy places with a hard brush.
In the event that the sheepskin coat is simply dusty, a vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle will come to the rescue. One-two-three and cleaning a sheepskin coat at home does not take much time.
When cleaning a sheepskin coat, it is not recommended to use such products as salt, glycerin and gasoline. Salt can noticeably discolour the surface of a sheepskin coat, glycerin can leave greasy spots, but you can’t talk about gasoline - its pungent smell will remain for a long time. The main thing here is not to overdo it and observe the measure.
