Repair is a troublesome business, not always pleasant, but necessary. Those who independently repair their homes know that each stage of work requires some preparation. One of these steps is the removal of lime from the surfaces of the premises.

You will need

  • - flat spatula

  • - metal brush

  • - foam roller or spray with water

  • - rags

  • - a container of hot water for removing particularly complex lime.

Instruction manual

1

In order to remove old lime from the wall or ceiling, you need to prepare yourself and prepare the necessary tools. Initially, you need to protect yourself. To do this, find safety glasses, a hat or kerchief, a respirator and rubber gloves.

2

Protect all objects in the room by covering them with plastic wrap, otherwise, in addition to removing lime, you will also have to clean chandeliers, cabinets, and the floor.

3

The work to remove the old lime is very dusty, so take all the household appliances to another room, remove the curtains from the windows, cover the glass with newspapers or film.

4

Do not forget about ventilation, providing an influx of fresh air into the repaired room.

5

Take the roller, lightly moisten the foam with water and lightly apply water to the lime wall. Let the water soak and dry. Repeat wetting. Moisten difficult places with a spray gun. Do not allow waterlogging and dripping water to the floor - this will only add to the problems with cleaning. Lime will begin to lag.

6

Take a spatula and, holding it at an acute angle to the wall, begin to clean the lime. Do not forget about corners, places of joints of plates and other difficult places. Having cleaned the main layer of lime, clean the remains. To do this, use a metal brush (or a grinder with a special nozzle).

7

Use wetting with hot water and then drying if the lime is not removed. Wipe off any residual lime from the surface with a damp rag, allow it to dry, plaster any damage found, then apply a primer and allow to dry.

note

Remember - lime, which is whitewashing, is an aggressive medium, so if particles of lime get on your skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
