Unfortunately, the water from a tap in an apartment in most cases cannot be called a quality example. There are many impurities in it, including rust, which appears due to the oxidation and decay of worn metal pipes. Many people have long refused to drink such water, preferring to buy bottled water, although plastic containers are harmful in their own way. But if you can still buy water for drinking and cooking, then what about, for example, washing? Now there is an opportunity to get rid of rust using various methods of water purification.

1

The simplest, albeit imperfect, way is to pour water into any container and stand for some time. After a few days, you will see a rusty residue at the bottom of the dishes. Pour water into another container, being careful not to shake the brown suspension.

2

Larger fractions of rust can be prevented by placing a strainer at the entrance to the water pipe in the apartment. Sometimes it is mounted in the design of a water meter. Such a filter is a mesh cylinder, which is usually made of stainless steel, in a metal housing. The cells on the grid are different - the effectiveness of water treatment depends on this. The smaller the cell size, the cleaner the water. But too small cells may become clogged and the filter will have to be taken apart to clean. Nevertheless, this design is easy to use and does not require any special maintenance: it is enough to rinse the mesh with running water.

3

The same strainer can be installed on the water tap. Some mixers already contain nets in their design. A cartridge filter with three-stage water treatment can also be attached to the tap. Then, along with cleaning it from rust, you can get rid of chlorine.

4

Filter the water from impurities, including rust, using a coal pitcher filter. Such filters are easy to use and publicly available, as inexpensive. But they have a peculiarity: if you do not regularly change the carbon cartridge insert, then not only do not purify the water, but also run the risk of getting some kind of disease. The old filter becomes a hotbed of bacteria.

5

There are also filters that remove the iron and manganese dissolved in it, as well as filters that reduce the hardness of water. The latter contain special fillings, with the help of which iron and other metals are partially removed from the water.

6

The so-called reverse osmosis system cleans water well. This is a mechanism based on a cartridge and the thinnest membrane with slits that allow only water molecules to pass through. No chemicals are used in the cleaning process. Filtered water does not have rust and harmful impurities; it has improved taste. Such systems are installed under the sink in the kitchen, cut into the pipeline, and a separate tap is discharged for clean water. Unfortunately, the reverse osmosis system is not cheap.
