How to clean a kettle with citric acid
Descale your electric kettle at home with a time-tested citric acid. Bags with this food supplement can be bought quite cheaply at the grocery store. Fill your kettle with about a liter of water and add 30 grams of citric acid to it. Depending on the amount of scale inside, add more or less powder. You can also try a more natural remedy - slices of fresh lemon. Now boil the kettle and wait a while.
Drain the kettle completely. Pay attention to the internal state of the device - how well its walls are clean of scale. If after draining the kettle has completely cleared, the mission can be considered fulfilled, but if this or that amount of plaque remains on the walls, boil the water again by adding the right amount of powder. Once the appliance has been cleaned, fill it with clean water and boil to get rid of the remains of citric acid, as well as the smell that it leaves behind. Usually this requires 1-2 boiling. Please note that pure citric acid can harm the body, so make sure that the kettle is completely cleaned before brewing it again.
How to clean a kettle with vinegar
You can also descale your kettle with vinegar at home. To do this, dilute table vinegar with water in a ratio of 1: 1 with lightly soiled appliance or 1: 3 if there is too much scale in the kettle. Fill your kitchen appliance with the product, boil and let cool. After about an hour, drain the water, thoroughly wipe the kettle from the inside and boil it another 1-2 times to completely get rid of the residues and the smell of vinegar inside.
