One of the most important stages of repairs in the bathroom is the decoration of its walls and floor with tiles. And the correct application of glue to the tile during installation is the key to long-term operation of the entire tile coating.

Instruction manual

1

Before applying glue to the tile, clean its base from dust and other small particles. If you chose mastic or a water-based cement mortar as an adhesive, wipe the base of the tile with a sponge moistened with water. If you decide to use solvent-based mastic, apply a solvent suitable for the glue to the surface of the tile.

2

The amount of glue required for application to the tile may vary from job to job. This value depends on the characteristics of the adhesive itself, and on the properties of the surface for laying, and on the temperature and humidity conditions in the room in which the repair is carried out. For example, a porous base requires more glue than a smooth surface.

3

To apply glue to the wall glazed tile, use a comb with V-shaped teeth, on a floor tile - a comb with square teeth, on tiles larger than 30 cm and irregularly shaped tiles - a comb with U-shaped teeth.

4

Apply and smooth the adhesive with the smooth side of the comb, holding it at an angle of 30 ° to the surface. At the same time, slightly press on the edge of the tool, while filling in all the pores and voids present on the tile.

5

The minimum height of the adhesive layer at which all its bonding properties are manifested is 2.5 mm. Consider the height of the teeth of the comb. The depth of the applied adhesive should not be less than the height of the teeth of the tool used.

6

“Comb” the glue with the serrated side of the comb, holding the tool at an angle of 45-75 ° to the surface of the tile. Choose the angle of the comb, depending on how high the furrows should be.

7

Start laying tiles immediately after applying adhesive to it. After completing the work, do not forget to remove the remaining glue from the front side of the tile and from the grout joints. This can be done using a universal knife, if the glue is still soft, or a special knife for trowel joints, if the glue has already managed to dry.
