If the lightning on your favorite bag or raincoat has begun to diverge or the “dog” (slider) has flown away - it is not necessary to alter the whole thing and give it for repair. You can try to put on the “dog” yourself, the complexity of this task depends on the density of the zipper teeth and the way it is sewn.

First, pick up the “dog” that fits the zipper. To do this, take the old broken slider and inspect it - on the back you will see the number. Buy or pick a slider with the same number. You can use the old “dog” that has flown down from the zipper if it is in good condition.

To put the “dog” on the zipper, closed on one side, remove the bracket connecting the two textile tapes. Using a flat screwdriver or flat-nose pliers, gently bend the bent teeth, being careful not to break them, and pull out the bracket.

Connect the halves of the zipper on the closed side and carefully push the “dog”. To make it easier to get in, you can very carefully widen the hole in the center with a screwdriver. Make sure that the cloves engage symmetrically.

Move the slider up, once again check the symmetry and fasten the two parts of the zipper with several stitches at the place where the staples are fastened, then fasten it in the same place. If the zipper diverges when fastening, squeeze the little dog a little with pliers or pliers.

To slide the slider into the detachable zipper, bend the bounding bracket on top of one of the tapes. It is enough to remove the bracket from only one tape - one that is equipped on the opposite end with a special socket.

Slide the slider onto this tape and secure the stopper back. For reliability, you can sew several stitches in this place by selecting threads in fabric color.

If there is no way to remove the bracket from the end of the zipper (for example, the end of the zipper is carefully sewn into the product and there is no way to tear it apart), try this. Extend the plastic (or metal) teeth as high as possible on the tape and try to push the slider inward.

In extreme cases, break one of the cloves (as close to the edge as possible) and, having pulled the “dog”, fasten this place with several stitches or a metal stop. If this is not done, the slider will fly off each time, reaching this place.
