Cleaning and mopping is a necessary procedure that must be performed periodically. Gradually accumulating dust and dirt not only spoil the appearance of the rooms, but can also cause the spread of various infections.
Floor preparation
Remove furniture from the room (tables, chairs, rugs, etc.) that may interfere with your work. If there is dust or dirt on the remaining objects, it is advisable to wipe them first with a damp cloth, this will prevent debris from falling onto a clean floor. Also ask your household not to walk around the room, send them for a walk if you plan to wash the floors throughout the apartment. Take care that pets do not interfere with mopping, quite often the reason for pollution is their dirty paws.
Sweep the floor
Before you start cleaning the floor, remove all rubbish from it, for this you can vacuum it or sweep it. This step may seem superfluous, but it greatly facilitates the washing process, the floor rag will not collect crumbs, animal hair, scraps of paper, etc. In addition, the presence of particles of hard crumbs can lead to scratches on the floor surface.
Detergent
Prepare water for washing the floor, for this, pour detergent into the bucket (if you use it) and dilute it with enough water. Use detergent strictly in accordance with the standards specified in the instructions on its packaging, excessive amounts can damage some floor coverings.
Water can also be diluted with a conventional dishwashing detergent.
Mopping
Floor washing is a fairly standard procedure, start from the corners of the rooms, from the wall opposite to the entrance to the room. Wash floors in small areas, periodically wetting the floor cloth. If floors are too dirty, wash them several times. At the first pass, do not wring the rag too hard, let it be wet enough. Leave the floor wet so that the dirt on it becomes a bit soft, then wipe it again with a now wrung rag.
Repeat this procedure if necessary. Try not to step on those parts of the floor that you have already washed out, wet floors quickly collect dust and dirt particles on their surface. If you have to do this, immediately wipe these areas until the dirt on them has time to dry.
Change the water if you see that it is too dirty.
