The texture and color scheme of the various types of this coating is very diverse, and therefore, to choose its kind, which is optimal for the interior of a particular room, is not difficult. But for a practical housewife, the main question is how to wash linoleum.

To prevent the linoleum pattern from becoming discolored, try to avoid direct sunlight. It is necessary to close the windows with blackout curtains on hot days.

Do not use liquid soap during cleaning. Add to the water that you use for washing, products containing a large amount of alkali. You can buy in the shops special detergents for washing linoleum.

If stains appear on the floor, try washing them with laundry soap. Take a piece of the product and grate it on a coarse grater, add 100 grams of soap to 10 liters of liquid in water. Water should be warm. Remove the stain with a cloth dampened in this composition, then wipe dry.

If the stain is greasy, take a dishwashing detergent, add a few drops to the floor washing water. In order not to erase the linoleum pattern, do not wash it with hot water.

You can remove the ink stain with sandpaper, pumice. After the procedure, wipe the contamination with a sponge soaked in vegetable oil or linseed oil, then wipe with a cloth made of wool.

Traces of dirty shoes, felt-tip pens or paints can be washed off with gasoline. Take a rag soaked in the composition and wipe the stain, then wipe this place with a damp sponge and wipe dry. If the stain is rust, take kerosene instead of gasoline.

After washing, grease linoleum with linseed oil, this will create a protective film on the surface. You can use milk for these purposes.

Sometimes dents and smudges form on the surface of linoleum, which can be repaired with mastic. To do this, take four parts of turpentine and one part of pre-ground rosin, mix. Add floor paint to match the color of the flooring, apply to linoleum and sand it with sandpaper.

Wash linoleum manually, without the use of washing vacuums and mops. In case the spots do not disappear, try to paint over them. Take a rag and soak it with solvent (cyclohexane), wipe it with dirt.

Rub the freshly laid linoleum immediately with mastic, as it absorbs dirt too quickly. At first it is better not to wash it, but only wipe it with a dry cloth. Try to carry out all repairs before laying the floor covering.
