Horizontal blinds are considered one of the easiest to use. But, like any other thing in the house, over time they become dirty and require proper care. For example, it is advisable to wipe closed blinds with a dry cloth every day to avoid dust accumulation. Still, from time to time the blinds need to be washed.

First, the horizontal blinds must be removed. To do this, raise the lamellas up to the ledge, which is mounted on two, rarely three brackets. In order to remove the cornice, you need to move the protruding levers of the brackets to the right towards you. Now with a slight movement, pull the blinds down.

Open and close the blinds removed. At the ends of the cornice there are several plastic plugs that must be removed before washing. Now direct a powerful stream of warm water at them. Treat both surfaces of the lamellas with warm water. Remember that if you try to wash the blinds when folded, the lamellas stick together, and the dirt remains.

After the blinds are washed, they need to be soaked in water. In order to make it more convenient, draw water into the bathroom, add some detergent or soap solution there, lower the blinds there and leave them there for two hours.

After the last traces of dirt have been removed, pull out the blinds, straighten them and rinse again with cold water.

Now you need to hang the blinds to allow water to drain. After that, take a soft, clean, lint-free cloth and wipe each lamella thoroughly until all moisture has been removed. Remember, you need to wipe the blinds gently and without pressure, as they are quite easy to wrinkle.

You can hang the blinds back on the window, where they should remain for another day - that is when it will dry completely. After this, the horizontal blinds must be removed again. Now install clean and dry plugs on the ends of the cornice, as well as on the lower trims.

In order to avoid the appearance of rust, it is necessary to lubricate the rotary mechanisms of the lamellas. As a lubricant, you can use special tools or replace them with ordinary engine oil. Drop one drop at a time on the sides of the rotary mechanism - the lubricant will penetrate inside the mechanism on its own.

Now you can hang the blinds on the window, as they are completely clean and will serve you for a long time.
