It is sometimes necessary to drill a hole in concrete, for example, for laying communications or installing any equipment. To do this was easy, you need to choose the right tool and perform preliminary training.
Tool and drill
To drill a hole in concrete, you will need a hammer drill or drill with the function of a hammer drill. It is important that the speed of this tool is adjustable, it must be powerful enough for the upcoming work. Too weak drills will not allow you to do the job to the end or it will pass with difficulty. For such work it is best to use a professional tool from well-known manufacturers (Makita, Bosch, etc.). You can buy it for quite a lot of money or rent it for a while. Before using the tool, carefully read the operating instructions if you are working with it for the first time.
Drilling depth
If you plan to drill through concrete, there is no need to set the drilling depth. If you need a hole of a certain size, you will have to measure it in advance and adjust your tool for it. Determine the depth that the hole should have, then install a special stop on the drill, it can be purchased separately from the tool. Instead of a limiter, you can use ordinary insulation tape. Wrap it with a drill in the place to which it should be immersed in concrete.
Preliminary work
Put a cross mark on the concrete where the hole should be. Set the drill exactly according to the mark, make sure that it is strictly perpendicular to the surface. Hold the hammer firmly with both hands. As a rule, such tools have an extra handle, be sure to use it. Do not push the tool too hard, otherwise the drill will pop off at the beginning of work. Drill a shallow recess, which will serve as an emphasis for further work. To do this, make short jerks with a drill at low speeds.
