New things made of genuine leather and leatherette have an unpleasant odor that does not disappear for a long time. If it bothers you, you can try to eliminate it in various ways.

Take potassium permanganate and add a few crystals to warm water - you should get a slightly pinkish solution, nothing more. Dampen a cloth in it and wipe the product. Be careful - you can not use a solution of potassium permanganate to get rid of the smell of bright things.

Use a stronger solution if just potassium permanganate could not cope. To do this, make a light solution of potassium permanganate, add 4 tbsp. 3% hydrogen peroxide, mix thoroughly. Using a cloth or sponge, apply the composition to the leatherette product. Keep in mind that if you add more peroxide than expected, dark items may fade. Ideally, this solution is recommended to use to get rid of the smell of light brown things.

Citrus fruit juice has long been known as an excellent means to eliminate unpleasant odors. Take a few lemons, oranges, grapefruits or limes. Remove the peel from the fruit, which should be rubbed on leather or leatherette. You can use the citrus pulp on your own.

Take the peel from three lemons, remember it in your hands and place it in a plastic bag along with the leatherette product. Leave for a day, then remove the item, shake. The unpleasant odor should disappear or become less powerful than before.

Take regular onions if you don’t have lemons on hand. Cut the onion into pieces, transfer to a plate, put a sieve on top. Place the entire structure in a box in which to put the product from leatherette. After a day, shake the product and hang it on the balcony for a couple of hours.

If you are confused by the smell of onions, you can use coffee beans. Put a handful in the bag in which you place the item. After a couple of days, there will be no trace of an unpleasant odor. It is unlikely that you will be annoyed by a subtle coffee aroma.

Soda will help eliminate the smell of light things. Generously sprinkle the material with soda, leave for a couple of hours. Shake the product and wipe with a damp cloth or sponge. It is not recommended to pour dark products with soda, because there may be whitish spots on the material, which can no longer be removed.

When nothing helps, there is only one thing left - to resort to the help of dry cleaning specialists. In just a couple of days you will be able to pick up a product that will not emit unpleasant odors. The cost of the service is kept at a fairly low level.
