Recently, in television programs, magazines, online publications it is often said that ironing bedding is harmful: after treatment with a hot iron, it does not allow the skin to breathe fully. But many housewives still prefer to cover the bed with clean, fresh, perfectly even sheets without a single fold. It would seem that ironing is a simple matter, but it has its own secrets.

Instruction manual

1

Before washing bedding, including a sheet, read the label with recommendations for care. Choose the appropriate washing machine mode, and if it supports the easy ironing function, be sure to use it: this will save you a lot of time, because you will avoid smoothing wrinkles and creases on the sheets.

2

When hanging the laundered sheets, fold them in half, matching the corners and edges, and hang them evenly. Try not to dry the laundry, iron it slightly damp so that it acquires a flawless look.

3

An irreplaceable thing in the house is an ironing board. To iron the sheet, set it to the upper level so that the laundry does not fall on the floor. If there is no board, use instead a large table covered with a blanket or bedspread. It is advisable that the place for ironing be well lit.

4

Cotton linen is ironed with a very hot iron; if necessary, use the "steam" and "water" buttons. For silk sheets, the heating of the iron should be small or medium.

5

It is most convenient to iron the sheets, folding them in half along the wrong side inward. While ironing fragment after fragment, move the sheet forward or backward along the board — as you prefer. Having processed the sheet with an iron on one side, fold it across so that the ironed part is inside, fold it in half again and iron each segment in such a way until the sheet reaches that size so that it easily fits on a shelf in a linen closet.

6

If you want to immediately lay the sheet on the bed or like to sleep on linen without folds, do this: fold the sheet in half lengthwise or across, as far as the width of the ironing board allows, and iron on both sides without affecting the bend. Then fold the sheet so that the remaining piece is in the center and iron it.

7

You can also iron the sheet directly on the bed if it is completely flat, but you will have to periodically heat the iron, since the length of the cord will not allow you to get to all corners of the sheet.
