Ficus is considered a fairly unpretentious indoor plant that does not need good lighting. But often, for no apparent reason, this beautiful evergreen flower begins to shed its leaves.
Ficus has about 2000 species, of which more than 20 have successfully adapted to room conditions. Ficuses are hardy and unpretentious, resistant to disease and build up a lush green mass even with a lack of lighting and care. But sometimes the plant suddenly begins to actively lose foliage. And before you take any measures, you should understand the causes and effects.
Natural causes
First of all, you need to deal with the intensity of dropping leaves and the age of the plant. A certain number of leaves ficus constantly loses. This is a natural process of growth and renewal. Ficus leaves live 2-3 years, after which they turn yellow and die.
The next reason may be a recent plant transplant or the usual relocation to a new place. Ficuses react very negatively to changes in familiar conditions and the above factors may well cause stress, which will provoke the discharge of leaves. This phenomenon is temporary and soon the plant will start growing again as soon as it gets used to new conditions.
Ficus loves moderate watering and high humidity. When the soil dries up or its excessive waterlogging, the plants can again begin to lose leaves. It should be watered moderately and regularly, as well as periodically sprayed foliage if the air in the room is too dry.
Weak green mass of ficus plants is insufficient lighting in the winter periods of short daylight hours, drafts and sudden changes in temperature, lack of nutrients in the soil.
