Cracks in the glass can be easily repaired at home. Such repairs do not spoil the appearance of the glass and lasts two to three years. In addition, the glass in the place of gluing will not be scared to wash with water.

You will need

  • - silicone glue;

  • - a syringe;

  • - clear nail polish;

  • - brush;

  • - acetone;

  • - detergent;

  • - a cloth;

  • - cotton swab;

  • - water;

  • - a bucket.

Instruction manual

1

First you need to clean the glass from dust and dirt. To do this, rinse the glass with water and glass detergent. It must be diluted in a bucket of warm water in the proportion indicated in the instructions. It is better to wash the glass with rubber gloves to protect the skin of the hands from the effects of detergent. Wash the glass on both sides and wipe it dry. Take care not to cut the glass on the crack site.

2

Now you need the glass to dry completely. If water remains at the site of damage, the glue will not work well. Leave the glass to dry.

3

Degrease the area around the crack. To do this, take a cotton swab, soak it in acetone and wipe the glass. The glue will be applied on such a surface better, smoother, and stay on it longer. It is convenient to degrease a small surface with a cotton swab. If the cotton wool is not synthetic, it can leave fibers. Instead, take a piece of gauze.

4

Go directly to sealing the crack. To do this, you need to put a little silicone glue into the syringe and carefully fill the crack. Better do it slowly so that the glue can evenly distribute. Some tubes have a convenient nozzle at the end so that the portions of extruded glue are small. If the size of the nozzle allows pouring silicone glue to the place of damage, a syringe is not needed. If the crack on the glass is large, use transparent adhesive tape on both sides of the glass to use it. Here you can’t do without a syringe. With it, pour glue into the cavity formed, and after the glue dries, remove the adhesive tape.

5

For best results, leave the glass until the glue has completely dried for 12 hours.

6

Apply a thin, thin layer of clear varnish on both sides of the glass on top of the crack. Take a thin brush, draw a little varnish on it and apply varnish with a brush to the place of gluing. Now it remains only to wait until the varnish dries, and the glass is ready.

note

If glass allows, you can move the edges of the crack a little when you fill in the glue so that it is better distributed over the cut.

Useful advice

Protect your skin from acetone, silicate glue and varnish.

Work is best done in a respirator.

Acetone can be replaced with nail polish remover containing acetone. It also degreases surfaces well.
