Marking
The marking step is common to all types of doorway reinforcement. In the case when the wall thickness does not allow to cut through it on one side, the marking is applied from the opposite. If the floors in rooms separated by a wall are located at different levels, they find the mark of the upper opening and transfer it to the other side. This can be done using a water or laser level.
When transferring vertical marking lines, they are repelled from perpendicular capital walls. If there are doubts about their alignment, test drilling of the upper corners of the opening should be carried out. It can be done with a puncher, but you need to carefully monitor that the drill enters the wall strictly perpendicularly.
Channel reinforcement
The advantage of this method is the possibility of carrying out work on strengthening even before cutting through the wall, the disadvantage is the loss of floor space. At the edges of the doorway, two vertical channels are installed, on one and the other side. After that, they are pulled together with studs, getting the so-called I-beam. If the walls are brick, the channel can be buried in the shtrobe, which will save on further finishing. Installing it may cause several problems. For a thick-walled channel, you will need to drill holes for the studs, which takes time. In this regard, many experts prefer to do their burning in advance, even at the metal base. However, when drilling a reciprocating hole in a concrete wall with a puncher, the likelihood of stumbling onto reinforcement increases.
