Copper is a fairly common metal; it is found in kitchen utensils, jewelry, water supply systems, etc. Over time, this metal oxidizes and requires purification. There are many ways to clean copper, many of which can be used at home.
Vinegar and salt
One of the most effective methods of ridding copper of oxidation is to use vinegar and salt. Wet the copper surface with a solution of vinegar mixed with a small amount of salt, then thoroughly wipe it with a dry cloth, thus removing oxidation products. After cleaning, rinse the copper with warm, running water and wipe it with a dry soft cloth.

Pour 1 cup of vinegar, 4 liters of water into a five-liter pan and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Place a copper object in the pan and bring the water to a boil. Boil the solution until the copper surface is completely clean. After cleaning, allow the copper object to cool, then rinse it with running, warm water and dry thoroughly.
Lemon
Lemon juice is also a good tool for cleaning the surface of copper, with its help it is very easy to clean copper dishes. Cut the middle lemon into two parts, sprinkle a small amount of salt in the cut area and rub it with a copper surface until it is completely cleaned. When finished, rinse the copper and dry it.

Squeeze the juice of one medium lemon into a glass. Add the amount of salt necessary to form a thick, pasty mixture and mix the resulting solution. Dampen a soft, dry cloth in this solution and rub it on the surface of the copper. Rinse the cleaned surface and dry it. To give shine to copper, you can rub it with beeswax.
Ketchup
An excellent way to get rid of oxidation is ordinary ketchup. However, it is best used if a small area of the copper surface has undergone oxidation, as working with ketchup can be pretty messy. Apply a small amount of ketchup to the copper surface and leave it for a few minutes. Then wipe the copper with a dry cloth, along with the ketchup, the oxidation products will also be removed. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
