In the cold season, a fur coat is a favorite option for outerwear. To prepare the fur product for sock next season, it is necessary to thoroughly clean it. You can clean the lining of a fur coat yourself without resorting to dry cleaning services.

The lining must be cleaned separately from the fur product. Therefore, first carefully open the lining material from the fur coat. To do this without harming the fur coat, do not resort to blades, razors or scissors. Use a special vaporizer, which can be purchased at the sewing store.

Pour some warm, soapy water into the basin and wash the lining in it. If the water is too warm (more than 40 degrees) - the lining may get hooked, i.e. decrease in size. Therefore, to sew it back, without spoiling the appearance of the coat, will not work.

Clean a heavily soiled lining with a mixture of ammonia and denatured alcohol in a 1: 1 ratio or simply ammonia.

Dry the clean lining and iron it well, straightening all the seams. Gently, with a thin needle, sew the lining in its original place.

If, after inspecting the lining, you find damage on it that is difficult to repair, try replacing it with a new one. To do this, repulse the lining, carefully iron it with the wrong side of the iron. Then use it as a pattern to cut a new lining for your fur coat. Iron the finished lining and sew it carefully.

If you are the owner of a long coat, use the following tip to help you keep the bottom of the lining clean without much effort. Pick up exactly the same material as the one from which the lining on the fur coat is sewn. Sew a strip at the bottom of the product, about 30 cm wide, directly over the lining. It is much easier and faster to tear off and wash the soiled protective strip than to clean the entire lining of the fur coat each time.

If you decide to use the dry cleaning service to clean the fur coat, ask if the lining will be torn off for a separate cleaning. Thus, the likelihood that she will sit down due to this process is reduced. It also increases the chance of thoroughly cleaning your entire fur coat.
Useful advice
Never hang an uncleaned fur product in a storage cabinet. The fact is that dirt promotes the breeding of moths, and, therefore, there is a risk of damage to the fur coat.
