You can determine the height of the operating table with the help of measuring instruments: from a regular stationery line to construction tape. If its legs are of simple geometric shapes and firmly abut on the reverse side of the surface, then it is enough to measure them and add to this number the thickness of the tabletop to get the height value. For convenience, it is advisable to make marks with chalk or a simple pencil during work, which will not allow you to go astray when using too short a ruler.

If you have an intricate table with curly legs in front of you, it is advisable to measure its height from the edge of the surface to the floor, however, in this case, the conditional straight line should go strictly perpendicularly. It is easy to do this with a tape measure: there is a tongue at its end that allows you to set the measuring tape in the right direction. But if the length of the ruler is much shorter than the distance to be measured, then you will have to use one more thing.

Take a lace, thread, elastic wire, which will be longer than the estimated height of the table. In principle, any improvised item that satisfies these parameters is suitable.

Tie a nut to one end of the cord, under the influence of the weight of which it will straighten. It will serve as the center of gravity.

Attach the free end of the cord to the surface of the countertop so that the nut lies on the floor and the cord is in a tense position.

Put a mark on it, then put it on a flat surface and calmly measure the distance with a ruler with a short scale of divisions.

Determine the required height of the table, which is only expected to be acquired, based on existing furniture. If there is nothing to compare with, then when deciding this question, you need to start from the height of the chair: add approximately 20 cm to it.
