Before removing contaminants, the effect of stain-removing preparations on the material must be taken into account first. Otherwise, things will be completely ruined. So, for example, acetate silk should never be exposed to acetone and acid, since these substances dissolve it. In turn, synthetic fabrics should not be treated with solvents: benzene, gasoline and others. Do not use alkali when cleaning natural silk and wool, and cotton materials - strong acids such as nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric.

Greasy stains are effectively removed by refined gasoline. Moisten a cotton pad and carefully treat the dirt. Then clean the cloth with a wet brush and wash. In addition, fresh greasy stains can be removed with chalk or tooth powder. Sprinkle dirt with a thick layer of adsorbent, rub lightly and leave overnight.

A mixture of medical alcohol and water copes with dry spots from wine and beer, and use glycerin to remove smudges of coffee, cocoa and tea from the fabric. It must be applied to the stain for several minutes and rinsed in warm water.

If rust stains appear on things, prepare the following mixture: 1 tsp. stir oxalic acid in 1 cup of water. Bring the resulting liquid to a boil and immerse in it a contaminated area of clothing. After a few seconds, remove and rinse in warm water with the addition of a small amount of ammonia.
