If you choose a heavy foundation for a foam block house, this often will not be justified and only leads to unnecessary labor costs. The most suitable for this type of building are slab, columnar and strip foundations.

Instruction manual

1

Choose the optimal foundation for your conditions, taking into account all possible factors. Usually these are soil features, the number of floors of the future home, its size according to the project.

2

Check the soil composition in the construction site. If it contains a large amount of clay, loam or peat, this means that the soil is very weak. In this case, arrange a columnar foundation for the house from foam blocks. Use it even if the earth is heaving.

3

Place reinforced concrete poles in the corners of the facade, in places where load-bearing walls will be built, in places of heavy load. Observe a depth of at least a meter. Keep the distance between the posts one and a half to two meters. Attach the reinforcement cage using knitting wire to the mounting loops on the posts. The rods should be 8 mm in diameter, concrete grade M200.

4

Determine the depth at which groundwater is located. If the depth of their occurrence is more than three meters, a shallow shallow foundation tape is perfect. He will need a trench 50 centimeters deep, which is dug along the perimeter of the future foam block structure and under the designed load-bearing walls. Arrange the base in such a way that it is 10 centimeters wider than the walls. Lay a pillow of crushed stone and sand at the bottom. Each layer should be 100 mm thick. Install the formwork and lay the two-layer reinforcement cage. For him, the rods should be 10 mm in diameter. Concrete pouring will need to be done once, filling immediately the entire trench.

5

If your site has a different type of soil, a monolithic slab foundation may be better than other options. It can be arranged on any type of soil, except clay. Such a base is called floating - its design is such that the foundation can move with the soil. At the same time, the walls of the future house of foam blocks receive good protection from damage and cracks. It will be necessary to arrange a pit under the entire area that the house will occupy according to the project. Its depth should be 60 cm. More than half of this will be used for the pillow - 25 cm of the foundation pit should occupy a layer of sand, 15 cm - a layer of rubble. After that, waterproof and frame the reinforcement. It must be composed of two layers of reinforcement, the diameter of which is 8 mm, between the rods, observe a step of 25 cm.

note

If the work is carried out in the summer, the concrete will dry quickly, so its surface must be moistened, and after the start of setting, cover with a film.

Useful advice

For private buildings, the tape shallow foundation is considered to be the most suitable for the device - it perfectly maintains the weight of the foam block structure. Its advantage is in the ability to arrange a basement under the house, but it is far from always possible to arrange just this type of foundation due to the type of soil.
