Clothing made of linen is perfect for hot summer days, because it is convenient, practical and able to give the desired coolness, as it passes air well. Its additional advantage is longevity, however, it should be borne in mind that this advantage can be negated if linen is improperly washed.
Pay particular attention to the choice of laundry detergent. It is important to consider several factors at once. Firstly, if you have to wash things in hard water, you should definitely use a product containing components to soften it. Secondly, if you wash colored linen clothes, make sure that there are no optical whitening reagents in the powder of your choice, otherwise the fabric will be covered with unpleasant stains and the item will be damaged. Thirdly, choose products with low foaming. And finally, take a few minutes to read the information on the packaging of the washing powder and make sure that this product is really suitable.
If you intend to wash clothes in a car, keep in mind that for light plain linen items, a water temperature of 60 degrees is suitable, and for colored ones, no more than 40 degrees. In both cases, it is recommended to put not too many things in the drum of the washing machine so that they are located there freely, otherwise the quality of the washing will leave much to be desired, and even things after it may lose their attractiveness. If your washing machine has an extra rinse mode, be sure to set it. The fact is that if at least a little washing powder remains on the fabric, the service life of the product can be significantly reduced.
When washing linen items manually, you can thoroughly soap them beforehand, and then put them in warm water and leave them for 15-20 minutes. Please note: this does not apply to clothing with embroidery, since it is generally not recommended to soak it. Then wash the clothes and rinse them thoroughly in cold water. If you wash colored clothes, add a little citric acid to the water to maintain the brightness of the colors. After washing, gently squeeze the product without unscrewing it, and then quickly dry. Ideally, linen should be left to dry in the fresh air under the sun.
