If you like coffee, then a good machine for brewing it in your home is not an unnecessary device. But, unfortunately, like the kettle, the coffee machine has to be descaled from time to time. This should be done regularly so that it will serve you faithfully for at least a few years. The cleaning procedure is simple, but it depends on the model of the device.

Professional coffee makers usually have a self-cleaning system. You should fill a full reservoir of water, start the appropriate program without pouring coffee, so that the water goes through the entire cycle idle. Follow this procedure before preparing coffee and before turning off the machine. In this case, scale will form more slowly.

Home models - filtering, drip and geyser, and coffee makers with a removable brewing unit for cleaning can be disassembled. Use any mild detergent, but not abrasive, so as not to scratch the surface. Disassemble the device, remove and rinse its cover, filters and other parts under running warm water. Wipe the body of the coffee maker with a damp cloth, preventing water from getting inside. If you perform these actions often, then the scale in the coffee machine will not form soon.

But if you notice that there are more solid salts inside the coffee maker and it’s already impossible to remove them with a simple wash, it’s time to use substances designed to combat scale. They are sold in the form of tablets, powder or liquid. After you put a few tablets in the ground coffee compartment, pour hot water into the coffee machine, filling the tank completely. Leave the cleaner for a few minutes. The duration of action is usually indicated in the instructions on the package. After that, start the coffee maker and brew a couple of cups of "coffee" (without it, of course). You will have to make water in this way several more times, in a few minutes, until the water in the tank is used up. After the procedure, rinse the entire system again with clean water.

If your coffee machine has an anticalc function, find it in the menu, select, and after 15 minutes everything will be ready. Then rinse the water tank well and pass clean water through the system.

You can use one of the most famous folk ways. In one of them, it is proposed to pour in a coffee maker a solution of acetic acid in a proportion of 50:50, in the other - lemon or juice from a pair of squeezed lemons. Hardened salts dissolve in an acidic environment. Start one cycle with acid (if the scale is powerful, you will have to repeat it several times), and then with clean water, until you wash off the remaining acid from the boiler walls.

In the future, consider the hardness of your water. If it’s soft, you don’t have to clean the coffee machine often. But if the water is hard and scale forms quickly, it would be better if you install a softening filter in the water supply.
