One of the most environmentally friendly and beautiful flooring is parquet. It looks equally stylish in the office, and in the interior of the bedroom. To keep the flooring smooth and elegant for many years, you need to properly care for it.

You will need

  • - soft detergents for washing parquet;

  • - soft brush, felt rags;

  • - mastic;

  • - electric floor polisher.

Instruction manual

1

Wash a parquet board no more than once or twice a year, using warm or water. Remember that hot water, as well as prolonged exposure to moisture, can damage and deform dies; parquet will swell.

2

Wipe the floor regularly with a well-wrung rag, while adding special soft detergents to clean the parquet. Do not use conventional floor cleaning products, as they are too caustic and can damage the varnish.

3

When the parquet has dried, rub it with mastic on a turpentine or water-soluble base using a soft brush (mastic will give the floor shine and smoothness, will update the coating). You can also rub the floor with an electric fan with a rotating bristle, and then polish it with a felt cloth. Rub the parquet with wax once a week.

4

If you have just laid the parquet, take care of it even more carefully. Perform the first wet cleaning only two weeks after varnishing. Please note that furniture can also be moved and placed only two weeks after installation.

5

When caring for parquet, consider the composition of the varnish. Particularly careful handling requires a coating of water-based varnish. Remember that parquet, covered with oil varnish, has open pores, and it is important not to allow such a floor to be flooded with water. As soon as water gets on the parquet, immediately wipe it with a rag and let it dry.

6

Traces of dog and cat paws, dirty shoes, immediately wash with a damp soft cloth. To remove heavy impurities, use alcohol or gasoline. Apply a small amount to a soft felt rag and gently wipe off any remaining grease, ink, shoe polish, or other possible dirt.

note

Make sure that dirt and sand are cleaned on time, as they act on the varnished coating like a grater, scratching and damaging the smooth surface.

Useful advice

Be sure to place a mat at the entrance to the house so that all the dirt remains on it. Paste the furniture legs with flannel, felt or soft felt. If there is a carpet on the floor, beat it out more often, removing sand and dust that rub the floor and make it shine less.
