In addition, photographs must be protected from direct sunlight.

If you store photos in a photo album, choose it carefully. Inexpensive photo albums can contain substances, such as plastic, which are extremely harmful to photos. Avoid also polyethylene and vinyl materials, they are not suitable for long-term storage of photographs. Choose photo albums made of polypropylene or polyester. If the pages of the photo album are made of paper, make sure that they do not contain lignin and any acids that can spoil the photos over time, some photo albums may have the corresponding marking.

To store photos and photo albums you can purchase special containers, they are sold in specialized stores. Never use boxes made of wood, plastic or cardboard. These materials release substances that can damage your photos. Do not use for storage photos and envelopes in which they are usually issued in photo salons. They are not suitable for long-term storage of pictures. Frequent viewing of photos stored in them can lead to damage due to constant friction against each other.

Another traditional way to store individual photos is photo frames. Be sure to check them for harmful substances, such as acids and lignin. In addition, glue is never used in high-quality photo frames for attaching pictures. If you want to protect photos from the harmful effects of light, you can also choose photo frames with special glass. Such glasses allow you to filter out some destructive forms of light. Install photo frames in rooms with constant humidity and temperature, without sudden changes. Do not place them near radiators, ducts, or ventilation openings. Also, do not allow them to be exposed to direct sunlight.
